North Carolina Maritime Museum

Other information about the museum can be obtained by visiting the website of the Friends of the North Carolina Maritime Museum at http://www.ncmm-friends.org. A Junior Sailing Program and a Summer Science School program are available for children ages 8 and older.

Ahoy Boat Rentals

Services: Rental boats: 19' Carolina Skiffs with 70 hp 4-stroke engines & 23' Sweetwater Pontoons with 90hp 4-stroke engines. Serving as sun shade, all boats have bimini tops. Full or half day rentals available - 8 hours on a full day and 4 hours on the half day, either a.m. or p.m.

Thorough orientation to the local waters (Garmin charts) & boat operation provided. Recommended areas of interest include Cape Lookout, Shackleford Banks, Morehead City & Beaufort water fronts, Core Creek, Sugar Loaf Island, Carrot Island, etc. Fishing is allowed along with pets. Carolina Skiffs are equipped with 4 rod holders. All boats have swim ladders & equipment aboard is USCG certified. Boats are inspected daily for top performance! Reservations recommended.

Carteret County Public Library

The Carteret County Library is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am until 9:00 pm, on Friday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Ms. Sara has storytime for Preschoolers (ages 3-5) on Wednesdays at 10:00 am, and for Tots (ages 11/2-3) on Fridays at 10:00 am. There are also programs for ''Tweens'' (grades 3-8). They include Tuesday Book Club on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm, and Thursday “Tweens” Afternoon Activities from 4:15 pm-5:15 pm.

Calico Jack's Ferry and Shipstore

The Cape Lookout Ferry runs seven days a week, weather permitting, starting at 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. There is a convenience store on the premises where you will find Cape Lookout souvenirs, tackle, bait, T-shirts, drinks, snacks, sandwiches, etc.

Anchorage Marina

Anchorage Marina is owned and operated by Cape Lookout Marine, Inc. For over 50 years, Anchorage Marina has been providing fishermen with everything they need for a day of fishing. In addition to bait and tackle, the Ships Store has boat parts and accessories, marine batteries, food and drinks, beer, ice, cleaners, marine oil (featuring Yamalube), T-shirts and jackets, life preservers, gasoline (plus, super, diesel), anchors and so much more. Bill, who has been working at the Ships Store for over 25 years, will professionally rig just about any tackle and/or bait that you want. Anchorage Marina is open from dawn to dusk, 7 days a week, 364 days a year.
